My doctor said I could only walk the first two weeks and then begin weights in the third week. Of course, 5 and 10 pounds only to start.
The best workout depends on whether you will be going to a gym or not. As a starter several people who went through the program where I am going, liked the Walk Away the Pounds program by Leslie Sansone. You'll get an all over body workout. Body for Life is another good one. You can do that at home or in the gym.
