Hi Chuck... Did your doctor recommend physical therapy after the surgery(ies)? The therapist could/should give you advise in that dept. I had a cortisone shot in one knee in Dec for a torn meniscus... It still feels good == but surgery is inevitable. I'm leery of what I should and should NOT be doing as well... so I'm looking forward to the advise that hopefully will show up here.
