Yeah, I had horrible dry mouth after surgery and brushed my tongue several times a day. It went away after 3 weeks or so. I know a couple of my podmates actually got thrush and had to have some sort of medication to fix it, so keep an eye on that.
So sorry for those having trouble with protein. I lived on Syntrax Nectar Fuzzy Navel for weeks after surgery, and then moved on to other kinds. Right now my favorite is Unjury chocolate flavor mixed with heated (to 130 degrees) mix of milk and water and a few teaspoons of sugar-free International Cafe drink mixes (I have chai latte, suisse mocha, and french vanilla flavors and usually mix chai with one of the others). My advice is to keep trying because my tastes continue to change even 6 months out, though now I can tolerate many things I couldn't my first few weeks/months. And I absolutely MUST drink a protein drink every day to keep my protein count up and my calories down. It amazed me when I started tracking my calories again (instead of just protein grams) how trying to eat my protein in just food caused my calorie count to shoot way up. I wasn't eating just lean meat all day every day, so there you go. Good luck, and keep searching the older posts here on the forum, especially in the nutrition section -- many great ideas!
