Default Tawna's story

Well here I am 2 days before surgery. I thought this day would never get here. The Canadian system can be so long and drawn out but I will soon be able to say it was worth the wait.

I started this whole process in July of 2006 when I got my referral to see my GB surgeon. A few months went by and I still had not received a referral date from the surgeons office. In my frustration I stumbled upon the thinner times sight and learned from fellow canadian, Lisa, that the wait could be very long. Armed with advice from Lisa I took my future into my own hands.

I was finally able to get a consultation with my surgeon in May of 2007. The whole process was starting to feel very real at that point. At my consultation I was given a surgery date for March 17, 2008. 10 months after my consultation. I didn't think that date would ever get here but here I am 10 months later and where has the time gone?

All that wait time gave me the opportunity to meet some really wonderful and supportive people on this sight and some as well in person. I have learned and will continue to learn so much from all of you.

I can't wait to join you all on the losing side!!!!!!!!!
