This is exactly why surgeons may ask you to lose weight prior to surgery. Dr Callery told me to gain nothing, I gained 10 and I was terrified that I would be cancelled. Luckily, they didnt. Like Cindy I was grubbing! Except for the last week, I ate clear fluids and soft proteins, the thought of a JP tube scared the beejeezus outta me! Anywho, if they want you to lose weight it is for health/surgical reasons which is a detriment to your health while on the operating table. Its not a measure of your will power as it has been suggested here. However, now that you know what we know and what are experiences and thoughts of minds were preoperatively-many of us did exactly what you did, but no one told us "no surgery." 10 pounds, if you work hard enough you could lose that in a week! They do it on biggest loser all the time. Watch reruns on the internet to inspire you if you must, but YOU CAN DO IT! Anything worth having is worth fighting for! Make a commitment to start today, and make an appointment for 2 weeks with your surgeon to show him your progress! 2 weeks+ 10 pound loss= no problem! Go get em!

"People will argue with you that getting what you want in life isn’t something you can learn, if you’re destined to be one of the worlds winners as opposed to one of its perpetual whiners, its because you have been born with the right talents and temperament and have a big dose of self-esteem, ambition, and good judgment."
