My Liquid Diet
Hi Cindie,
Welcome! I am a new member to this forum too and love it, so far. Very helpful. I am three and a half weeks post-op (LAP RNY) and I was on liquids until one week after surgery (clear liquids in the hospital - mostly broth, water and popsicles - which I loved). After coming home from the hospital, I was able to move on to full liquids which included low carb slim fast or glucose control boost (great source of protein) cream soups, sugar free jello, pudding, popsicles, low-carb yogurt, and the like. The second week, I moved on to soft foods like cottage cheese, low-fat cheese, saltines (chewed until mushy), pureed vegetable soup, mashed potatos, scrambled eggs, bananas, oatmeal, and even had some pureed chicken and a few shrimp that week and did fine with them. Finally, the third week, I started cooking for my family again and started adding regular foods back into my diet - so far so good. Still trying to find a protein source that I can drink without shivering from the grossness. I have ordered some of the Syntax Nectar - hopefully that will be better for me. My only big problem so far has been remembering to chew and take small bites. I have a busy schedule so sometimes I make the mistake of trying to do two things at once and will forget my chewing - my pouch pipes up pretty quick to let me know to slow down. It's not a nice feeling, believe me. Anyway, best of luck to you and hopefully this will give you some ideas. There are a couple of links in some of the threads that will take you to some nutritional outlines that are pretty good. Do a search and you might be able to find some of those as well. Again, best wishes and welcome to the club!!
