This is soooo funny. Here I am a born and Breed Wis. girl and having to hear STRING Cheese explained is cracking me up!!
Kraft Cheese slices cut into strips??? LOLOLOL!!!! That's a good one!!!!!! See this is where the whole, language barrier really gets you into trouble! 
String cheese is so called because like Dave said, it can be "pulled" apart and the results look like STRINGS! It's a staple around here, for me especially.
