I have had hypoglycemia my entire life with no explaination why. My main concern about having GBS was how my sugars would be affected. So far (I am 2 years out) I have had no change in my sugar levels. I know that I have Reactive Hypoglycemia. If I eat more than 2 parts carb to 1 part protein my sugars will drop. I have to eat at least 3 parts protein to 1 part carbs.
As far as the low sugars is a form of dumping, I disagree. However, if I eat sugar it is part of the reaction to the carbs. If I have sugar, my sugars are out of control for the next 2 days.
Also, my sugars NEVER get higher than 110 even after eating. The key is if it is cold in the room & you start sweating...eat NOW!!! Don't have the wait & see approach. Peanut butter & orange juice are the best thing to raise sugars quickly.
Good luck!
