Cool Hello!

I hope you are doing well! I will be 6 months post op on the 28th and trust me it gets better than where you are now! I used to hate the fact I couldn't just drink a bottle of water if I was thirsty like I used to be able to as well. You will be able to drink more at one time as time goes on so don't stress about it right now! Try to keep on your Drs recommendations as much as possible and you will have great success! You are eating mushy foods now or have you graduated to some solids now? If you are still on mushy yogurt was my staple food for like the 1st month after surgery. You can have sugarfree pudding as well and jello! I eat those sugarfree real fruit bars made by Edy's those are good if you miss your fruit and it counts as a fruit as well! You want to make sure when you do eat you eat your protein first so it will seem like all you eat is protein for a little bit but as you get further out you can add things like green veggies are great and different things. They like you to try to stay right with their recommendations so you can learn a new way of eating and if you stray it really can mess with your staying on track. You will hear people who eat things that aren't highly recommeded and lose weight still but keep in mind in the long run they aren't learning to eat in a new way they really just went back to their old way in a smaller amount and probably when they are able to eat more. My theory is if I did all this I want to make sure it works so I am pretty diligant about keeping track of what I eat even if it's not a highly useful food. That way I stick to my calorie intake and I can look back later to see what worked and what didn't. The first 6 months my Dr likes to call the Honeymoon phase where you will lose no matter what and after that is when you need to tighten down to get weight off. So he whatever he recommended I did and do. It helped me to go to a dietician that is familiar with bariatric surgery. We have one at our clinic but if you don't maybe look around for one. They can help you keep on track as your increasing your foods and calories to give you ideas of different things. Are you going to a support group? They are really helpful as well for different ideas and tips. Well, I could go on forever but I have to get my morning shake in! Procomplex has some good ones if you can drink skim milk I do one scoop with 8 oz of skim milk and its only about 220 calories 38g protein and 13 carbs. It's a good balanced mix too with different types of protein so it will keep you full longer! Alright if you need anything just yell, there are a lot of great people who will help you out around here! Good Luck to you and Congratulations! Don't be too down on what your eating now it will get better and as you learn what works for you then it will be a breeze, these are just small steps to a better life and you will do great!
