Never loose sight
I think all of us have heard the story from others.. “I have a friend who has a sister that had gastric bypass she lots a ton of weight but now shes gained it all back” Then you go to your support groups (if you have one you go to) and you see all the people who have started to gain and you wonder just what went wrong.. until the day it happens to you....
Now some of you know I followed the book, if there was one lol. For over one year I refused to add some things into my diet. I got rid of carbonated beverages and still haven’t had one to date.. (don’t think I ever will) I refused to have any bread, pasta, potatoes.. mostly any starch or carb. I did however have some complex carbs once I started to run and work out. I drank water.. I never drink with my meal. I work out 3 days a week with a personal trainer I run 4 days a week. So what happened last week when I realized I put on.. TA DAAA… EIGHT POUNDS!!
I had a little bit of a melt down and freaked out lol. It all started about a month ago when I started to experiment with yummy foods I have kept far far away from. I realized… bread tastes really GOOD! I forgot.. lol I thought that since I still have small portions I could eat really anything and be safe .. I mean I am still busting my butt in the gym and running .. of course I can have anything I like! WRONG
Now.. there are more things involved then just gaining this 8 lbs because not all of it was fat. The other factors were it was 5 days away from that time of the month for me.. and I have really been running and I know I have gained some muscle I also thought I was retaining some water but anyway .. WHO cared about all that I was 8 lbs up!! And to think.. this was 2 days after I ran in a 5k! I quickly planed out what I was going to do.. back to my 800 calories a day ( I am only allowed 1000 if I want to loose a lb a week as I only burn 1500) more running! And.. count count calories and watch everything I put in my mouth. I was shocked.. I had gone so far from counting my calories I did not realize how quickly they add up. It is SO easy to get more calories in then we burn and I did it. I do not want to be one of those people in someones conversation who gained their weight back. As of today I am down 3 lbs and I am happy about that.. but this is a reminder… never stop being accountable and loosing sight. Weigh yourself regularly so you know what’s going on with your body. Have a goal weight and a warning weight and stick to it. If you gain don’t completely freak out and walk away.. do something about it before the number is too much to confront.
One thing I would recommend to anyone who hasn’t done it is to get your metabolism checked so you KNOW how much you burn when you’re sitting on your butt all day and when you add exercise into it. Yes it is quite easy to gain the weight back just like everyone else.. but YOU can choose not to by being prepared before it happens.
So as of today I am 5 lb up from where I was 1.5 weeks ago.. but 3 lbs down from Sunday and even more determined to beat the fat and reach my goal. When you realize what it takes to just loose 1 lb of fat.. cutting out 3500 calories a week.. and you know just how hard it is to run 2 or 3 miles everyday and know that’s only burning 200 a day .. it can be hard but we all can do it! Its just numbers.. so after all this babbling I just want to encourage people who may have gained a bit to get back on track.. never loose sight!
