I have had no complications due to surgery. I had over 200+ lbs to loose. I am at approx. 95 lbs loss. I've already had my children so that's not an issue. Perhaps if I was in your situation I would look into the VSG surgery since it doesn't have the mal absorbtions issues and they don't re-route anything. Being that you are so young this is a factor in why If I were you I would not choose the band. I have read somewhere that it's only good for 5-10 years max. and has to be re done or removed. I'm not into foreign objects in my body this is just my opinion. I know some that have had gbs and had children with no complications. After gbs your nutrition doesn't absorb as well. If you're pregnant on top of that your baby gets the nutrition and you are at a higher loss. The baby gets what it needs so you need to be more vigalent with vitamines ect... The VSG doesn't work as fast though and doesn't have the greatest weight loss effect. The gbs was my best option at my stage. I wanted the mal absorbtions and dumping that comes along with eating wrong. I needed the slap, so to speak. I needed consiquences to happen if I went off track. It's been quite successful so far. I don't intentionally test my pouch, it's very testy and I can't tolerate numerous foods now, I'm ok with that!
I go out to eat with friends and eat what I can and don't bother with the rest. I share meals with my family and it works out fine. I don't make a big deal out of what I eat cause I know what works for me and when I eat out I choose those things.
