Mikimi, I'm not a doctor, but from what I've researched I think RNY may be a good option. I'm totally with you about GERD - it's terrible (I have GERD plus a quite big hiatal hernia). I haven't discussed VGB specifically with my doctor, but he told me that surgeries like gastric banding weren't for me because of the hernia and GERD, which could actually get worse. Instead, he told me that RNY should help me with GERD - from what I've read the stomach acid is mainly produced in the lower part of the stomach, and this is being completely separated from your esophagus, so I have pretty high hopes to have this problem solved.

I hope that everything goes well and you'll get rid of the nasty GERD and hernia!
