Happy 6th gastric bypass surgery birthday to me
Happy 6th Birthday to Me! January 29th, 2002 my life changed for the better. I am so grateful. I wish that I could say that I've kept off all of the weight that I originally lost but I haven't. I've kept off 2/3 rd's of my excess weight (average success rate for long term patients). So I am average, although I so much wanted to be one of those who have remained at goal weight. My old sugar demonds have controlled some of my compulsive behavior around sweets. I hope to eventually change that damaging behavior. It's very, very hard. My surgeon operated on my stomach, but didn't cure my brain obsessions. Gastric bypass surgery is a critical tool to my success, but I must take responsibility for my daily actions. While I am disappointed that I gained some weight back, I am absolutely thrilled that my weight has stabilized over the past 2 1/2-3yrs. These past six years have been such a blessing to me to be healthier and not living in a morbidly obese body. I've been healthier and far happier. I will be forever grateful to my surgeon Dr. Callery, my primary physician Dr. Chang for his support in my desire for the surgery and my insurance company that paid for it. It has had such a positive impact on my life.
