Gwen - I dropped Dr Dillemans an email with your name in it Gwen, I've not heard anything back from him as of yet. Hopefully he will get back to me, otherwise I will make further enquiries with obesitycare
The more research I do the more I think banding may be the way to go for me.
Galaxy/Der - my current BMI is 35.8 which with two co-morbidities should mean I am within the parameters for consideration for surgery. I have type II diabetes and high blood pressure. There was a private cosmetic surgery clinic in Dublin doing banding but it was €10k and it was closed down prior to Xmas, I'm not sure why exactly but it didnt sound great! The reviews I have read of Dr Dillemans work is great my only concern at this time is the aftercare and fills and having to travel for those.
Did you find any issues with losing hair after having the RNY? My reasons for choosing banding over RNY at this point in time is that we are trying to conceive and this was the better option for maintaining my nutrition throughout a pregnancy - I could have been totally mislead though!
Thanks for all your advice so far, its a difficult decision to make but in some ways easier, I have to get my weight under control in order to get my diabetes under control, Im already having complications in my eyes because of it
