Hej Jim, thank you!
The self-injections are "Fraxiparine" to prevent deep vein thrombosis. (I also had to wear the anti thrombosis stockings for 2 weeks).
These injections are easy to use. They are pre-loaded. You pick up a roll of fat below the navel (easy to do at this stage!) and "stab". With the needle in place, squeeze the trigger with your thumb (your forefinger and middle finger are holding either side of the syringe) and when you hear the whoosshhhing sound, pull the syringe out, put the cap on the needle and retract it into the body of the syringe and dispose of it in the bin.
Just imagine if we had become diabetics - diabetics would have do to self-inject on a daily basis!
It is not "fun" and quite frankly, I am glad I don't have to inject anymore. It doesn't hurt, only "emotionally". And, as you would rather prevent blod clots than risk death, you are probably prepared for a little inconvenience, no?
The ONLY medication I am now on (2 weeks post-op tomorrow!) is an ulcer preventative capsule, swallowed easily with water... 3 months of it, easy peasy!
I am drinking water like a bloody alcoholic though never getting enough in me (according to the colour of my pee!).
Tomorrow a long walk with my dogs....
Thanks for tuning in!
Cheers!
