I never got in the required protein for a very long time and I couldn't gag down protein shakes. It was at about 3 months out that I found Nectar protein and could take that and that helped a great deal.

Do what you can - get in the protein that you can and really focus on getting hydrated with all the fluids. It takes some time to adjust to the new way of eating, but it should get easier the farther out you get.
