How did you first hear about surgery, who recommended, what research did you undertake, do you know anybody who had WLS and why now rather than say 3 years ago?
Thanks for taking me right from your beginning...
(my op is due 5th December...!)

The event that prompted me the most was becoming diabetic. At sixteen years old I got that news. I knew what it did since my grandpa died from it. I did not want to be in that same boat. At about seventeen or eighteen my doctor suggested it to me but I wanted to do it the natural way. Exercise and cutting back. Of course that never works. I had a family friend who had the surgery done but he did have complications but it has been very successful for him so I decided enough was enough. I was originally going to have Lapband done so my research was limited to what the doctor told me and what I heard at my surgeons seminar. I finally decided to do it and had surgery October 5, 2007 and I have not looked back since. Good luck on your journey and please feel free to ask us anything we are here for each other through thick and thin.
