PR can take anywhere from 4 months to over a year. But once the application and fee is sent in, they send us information on getting the medical exam. Providing I don't have a communicable or otherwise financially taxing illness, I qualify for OHIP immediately after the exam. At least, according to the OHIP website. It does say there may be a 3 month waiting period, but the wait starts from when you arrived in the country, not when you applied. Lucky me, I arrived in August. Immigration has my arrival date as Sept 15th, but even that was a month ago. We'll find a way to make it work.
