Default October 13th Update

Good Morning Folks!

Just thought I'd update again. Things are going well. I'm having a little trouble sleeping, as rolling over seems to catch something around the incision site so I usually end up on my back.

My back's not hurting anymore, but if I sit too long, my butt just kills me! I've lost another ten pounds, but I think the slowdown is coming. I'm getting close to 700 calories a day--all protein related, with between 60-70 grams of protein daily. I don't know how in the world I'll get in more--some of you are talking about getting 80-100 grams a day.

I've been able to get in my fluids as well, at least 64 oz, sometimes more. My doctor said I could eat whatever at this point as long as chew everything really well and steer away from high fat and high sugar foods. With the protein I'm eating, though, there are next to no carbs.

The things I'm enjoying eating right now are: Baked Haddock filets from Schwan's (4 oz- 21 grams of protein), Zone Protein Bars (1.5 - 2.0 oz --14 - 15 grams of protein), Boiled chicken with tomato sauce, parmesan, and lowfat mozzarella (7 oz. total, takes 2 to 3 sittings to get it all down, 28 grams of protein), South Beach Diet Wraps (chewed carefully, eaten in at least 2 sittings, 24 grams of protein). Again, I reiterate, I chew things up pretty good...I don't want anything to get stuck. (My doctor said my mouth was as good a blender as anything--just chew, chew, chew before you swallow!)

I drink Crystal Light/Water all day, milk in the protein shake that I choke down because I hate it, and an occasional cup of coffee.

The best thing so far is the way my pants are fitting. They are baggy--and my belt is being fastened at the 5th hole instead of the 1st or 2nd one. Oh, and I'm going to have to get my wedding ring resized, it's getting loose! (I've been sleeping with it on my middle finger so it doesn't fall off in the night.)

Thanks again for all of your support--I couldn't have done this as well without you all!

-Mike
