All very sound and solid advice. You are fresh outta surgery correct? If so your diet will be very important
in the coming months with your workout. The truth is you need carbs if you are gonna workout at all. From the get
go. So since you will be limited on what you can and cannot eat you will need to adjust your workouts accordingly.
My only real added piece of advice would be to seriously watch your weight training and dont get too hasty with it.
Not only can you injury yourself doing weight training if you don't do it right(which will really hinder your
progress if you can't workout for 2 weeks cause you pulled something) but, you weither you like to think of it
in these terms or not you are already carrying around all the weights you need. Since the real key to success is
reshaping how your body deals with the calories you eat your metabolism is by far the most important thing you need
to work on. Cardio is great for that. Increasing directly with strain how quickly your body depenses energy in
corelation to how it stores it.

Gaining muscle is indeed a huge help in this area and one of the biggest key factors in how much energy you use to
walk around and go about your day. Muscles need food and energy and will eat all day if you have enough of them.
Cardio will increase your muscle mass index greatly since you are literally carrying weights with you right now.
Doing cardio while you are 300lbs is like carryin around a 30lb dumbell with you while you run. Simple exercises like
pushing against your chest and pulling on your arms to hold up your body during a pushup. Pulling your leg up and
forward for your next step in that jog. All the while holding weight against it while its being done. Your simple
cardio exercises will actually build muscle for you while the skinny person next to you is spinning empty carloies
building their endurance. To put this as simply as I can workouts work differently for you period.

I can use my own body as a prime example. I did no weights at all and in 10months my LBM(lean body mass water/muscle/
skin) increased by 30lbs!! So not only are weights dangerous for you while you are still learning and you may not
lift them right but, they really aren't needed yet. After you cut down the fat in your body and you are getting thin
you will need to use added weight to help reshape and tone your body and continue to build new muscle. iF you must
do weights do light weight training followed by cardio afterwards. Any great trainer will tell you doing cardio
after straining and pulling apart the tissue will help peak the muscle and help cut things even better.

Diet being the other huge component in shifting your metabolism is another conversation all together. For now simply
learn what you can and cannot eat and try and get in clean carbs and protein. I promise you if you get up and workout
everyday you will see a change in not only how you feel but, how you look.

*edit* wanted to add WATER! You simply can't drink enough of it. Infact your bodys metabolism will naturally slow if you are dehydrated. If continued dehydration occurs your metabolism can come to a complete standstill. Its why doctors always tell you drinking water helps you loose weight. Thats how. So drink up its only gonna help and make you go pee more.
