Trainers are not cheap sadly, mine cost around $3500. Luckily the gym had a payment plan that I could pay $350 per month for 10-12 months. That was a bit easier on the wallet. (Edit - forgot to add that the 3500 was for 72 sessions or 4 months, whichever came first)
But the free sessions they give you are great, it gives you an idea of what you should do for a work out while there. And if you can go with a friend it helps having there to keep you on track so you don't "cheat".
Some gyms also have 2-3 visits with a trainer at a reduced rate. That way every so often they can put you back on track if you deviate from it, and can give you new excercises for your changing body. Helps with money this way as well.
