Wow!!! I admire you...you my friend have guts. I can say for myself I was once an addict of Meth and I thought I would never face anything so difficult to kick. But food has and will be my biggest challenge! So I totally understand where your coming from

If you like green olives, they're perfect for getting over that salty craving.. Just 3 or 4 of them does the trick!

That says a lot about the addiction we all share. It is complicated by the fact that we HAVE to eat, so directly face the temptation every single day.

I remember hearing once in OA-nothing tastes as good as being thin feels. How true. I believe that addiction is one big disease that manifests in a variety of ways. When I lost whole people worth of weight, I shopped too much, when I stopped that I drank too much....get it? I am now trying to figure out what that little girl in side of me wants so badly and find a healthier way to get it.

Thin feels better than food tastes. This is absolutely true for me.
I think you are right in many ways, but I don't think it's an all or nothing thing. What drives me from my addiction is fear. I don't want to go back to what/who I was, and that included being in a wheelchair (back issues). Fear is a good thing, at least for me.
I have my days of overeating, and I don't worry about it. I just go back to my "default eating" pattern, and it levels out. I've been at the same weight for 1.5 years, and it is all becoming a habit that I don't ever want to break!

Claire, when i wasn't a habitual hospital patient as my new career, I remember having those days where I felt like I was eating through my pouch. Could it be that you are more active those times and burning off more calories... in turn making you hungier? It's just a thought, because I never really paid attention those extra food days, i remember mentally trying to justify it, like a true food-addict.
