I still have some issues - just went through gallbladder surgery three months ago. Since then, I've struggled with my body signals--for about six weeks, I couldn't tell until far too late that my pouch was full or overfull, and would overeat to the point of extreme pain. Finally got that mostly sorted out, but not because the signals have come back, I'm just getting better at measuring my food out again, something I had been able to relax about for almost a year.
I do get ill about once a month or so, and usually find out that it's the sugar content in something that I wasn't careful about that's making me sick. Sometimes, bluntly, I risk feeling ill--I made a birthday cake for the friend I'm staying with, and I ate a small slice of it at her party. I paid the price--sugar overdose for me now causes a lot of pouch pain, as well as the sweats and the nausea.
But no, I'm not ill or in pain on a daily basis. Most of the time I feel very normal. I had no complications from GBS, just the stomach 'flu at two weeks post-op, landed in the hospital for three days to stay hydrated. But I was lucky, no strictures, no leaks, the only true complication was the recent gallstone that blocked the duct, a recognized complication of rapid weight loss, not just of GBS.
