My doc said not to worry about counting calories but to concentrate on trying to get between 65-85 grams of protein a day. Its worked so far for me, of course I'm just shy of 9 months out and still 40 pounds from my goal, so when I get closer to goal I'll probably pay more attention to my caloric intake than I do now.
