I recently applied for new health care insurance and was denied.

However, I was offered coverage for a much higher rate. I mean... a REAL HIGHER RATE!!
I have, for the most part, been very health since my surgery and have not had to go in for any problems.
Some questions maybe some of you can help me with:
1. Can the companies discriminate us like that?
2. Will I ever get a lower rate of coverage?
3. Can I appeal this?
Any and all help/advice/personal experience is welcome and I REALLY appreciate any input!
Thanks,
