I was on chronic pain meds when I had my surgery (Lortab) and my surgeon AND my pharmacist both told me to crush it and my pharmacist even picked out the crusher for me to purchase, so I don't think it will hurt you to crush a pain pill, UNLESS it is specified to be time released and then you will run into a problem. I was talking up to 6 a day and never had a problem. If anything, I was not absorbing the full amount and it actually did not control my pain as well after surgery. I now take Darvocet N 100 daily and I take up to 6 a day and I cut them into 6 pieces because they are horse pills and my surgeon, again, told me to do this.
