a message from the queen of constipation...
With all the pain meds I take, I am always very constipated. Here are a few suggestions:
There is a liquid called Mag Citrate that is only about $2 a bottle, and will act like blasting caps in relieving you. Don't eat a bunch of cheese. If you can tolerate it, have a bowl of French Onion Soup. The onions will move stuff along also.
I was told that sometimes taking fiber can actually absorb too much liquid and cause the constipation it's supposed to cure. Try cutting back on the fiber for the time being and just work with stuff to unclog you. If you take iron supplements, hold off on those, they are very constipating.
Jello binds. Greasy meat helps. Onion rings combine onion and grease--very slippery. I have always gotten relief by eating spicy food--it always lets me know when it's on its way out. Oh, corn! corn and popcorn kind of scrape a layer off if you can handle that.
If I think about it awhile I can probably come up with more. Rene' was right about the Senocot, it's not as irritating of the intestines as MOM, but MOM always works for me, so if I have it bad (more than 2 days) I take the MOM.
I feel much better knowing that everyone now knows everything I go through to poo. Yep.
