Thank you all for your support. As it turns out my family was as understanding as you all were. I apologized and explained that their comments made me feel. My son jokingly used one of my own lines against me.
One of the things I always tell them when they comment that someone made them feel bad is: Nobody can
make you feel anything. We are all volunteers in our emotions." The point being that you need to feel good enough about yourself that it really doesn't matter what other people say. You should never give control of your emotions to someone else.
So he caught me with my own words when I mentioned how they made me feel when he pointed out that "nobody can make me feel anything." Ha Ha! We all cracked up laughing.
We laugh a lot and are able to joke with each other about our mistakes. We talked more about what I was doing and why. As it turns out, I was not talking about what I was doing too much...apparently I was not talking about it
at all. I was apparently leaving them out of the process completely.
So... I have some work to do to involve them in the process instead of trying to do this on my own.
Fitbefore40, thanks for the song lyrics. I had never heard that and was surprised to see that quote used in the song. So do you suppose Winston Churchill ever would have guessed that he was writing a country song? Ha Ha!
I've never done kickbox to country music, but I do step aerobics and kick box four days a week. I actually really like it. My employer invited a bunch of us to a class to promote fitness in the company. We have a really fun group. We've been doing this for 28 weeks now and I am working on compiling a new aerobics CD because we are getting tired of the ones we have been using.
Anyway... All's well that ends well and, once again, I find myself grateful for this wonderful group of people who barely know me, yet care enough to pick me up and dust me off when I stumble.
I hope you all realize how special you are.
