Lisaboston- thanks for the info. I'm going to have to try the cottage cheese test and check out the site for the opening. I'll let ya know.
Chilmoe-that was my point exactly. My doctor told me that i had a one ounce pouch. And i took the test (barium swallow) and was able to see it for myself after the surgery. It was tiny! I didn't think that i would ever be able to eat anything again really. A bite maybe. But now....it varies greatly on what i eat and how much of it i can eat. Though i do still watch my portions. So...i was curious about how MUCH they stretch and so forth. My doctor advised me to have a barium every 6 months to ensure that this isn't happening. He has several patients that are 2-4 years out that STILL have a one ounce pouch. I am 6 mnths out now so i am being scheduled to have one. But i have learned so much info on here that i was wondering what kinds of foods and things actually do stretch it out. I have noticed that if i do not eat all day...i am able to hold more. If i eat 3 small meals...i eat less in those 3 meals than when i just eat one. Make sense? ANd i cannot seem to find a pattern on what foods seem to fill and which ones don't . It seems to vary day to day. Fluids maybe? I don't know which is my reason for asking. Thanks for the replies everyone.
