Make sure to give your trainer all the info they need
One thing I'm finding out, as I introduce new people to the fitness center every day--give your trainer full disclosure. Tell him/her about any other muscular issues you have, and that you had abdominal surgery and when you had it. Your choice on whether you tell him it was GBS. Your trainer needs to know those muscles have been traumatized, and that you need to build your core strength slowly to accommodate what you've gone through.
