Also, your success magnifys others' lack of success. Some folks are not ready for this surgery, are scared, wouldn't qualify or whatever, but if they are overweight, your very presence is a reminder to them that they aren't succeeding the weight loss battle.

The number one thing to remember is that - it isn't your fault, isn't your problem etc.

I haven't told anyone at work that I had surgery, but there are many people treating me differently just due to the weight loss. Some foks are talking to me and asking me all sorts of questions who never talked to me 85 pounds ago. Also, some folks aren't talking to me - both heavy and thin.

but it has nothing to do with me. I can only be me the best way I know how.

Now with close friends and relatives, I would just try to have an honest talk about it. Not always possible.
