No worries about falling off the pre-op plan, just get back on. I agree with Gina, it was much easier after the surgery, I didn't want to eat, but made myself get it in.
Have you tried protein drinks at all. They really help fill you up and give you protein.
Cream soups were good - try a variety of canned or make your own. I lived off this for the first 2 weeks.
