Default Crossing your legs--be careful!

So, who knew trying to be dainty could cause such problems. I started with foot drop (toes dragging) about 2 weeks ago. It was all of a sudden. I thought it was my herniated disc acting up. I just had my neurology appt. today and found out I've given myself peroneal palsy...a fancy way of saying I crushed the nerves behind my knee by crossing my legs. He found myelin and axon degeneration (the inside and outside of the nerves are smooshed). It may take up to a year to heal. WHO KNEW!
Anyway...after losing close to 200 lbs...the doc wasn't suprised. It's a common side effect of having new bones that stick out and nerves closer to the surface now. The sciatic nerve splits off right above your tibia on the outside of your legs...and its very close to the surface.
I just wanted to share so that you might be a little more careful with those new boney little legs! The test they did today hurt really bad (needles, electic shocks, and a two pronged probe kinda like a taser gun). I would avoid this at all costs! OUCH!
I loved crossing my legs too...made me feel so lady like. Phooey.
