I looked at my options and that was one of them. I choose the RNY over 3 or 4 choices that I had. One based on having my surgeon reasonably close, RNY is much more common and there are more stats available on RNY and the fact that I was at a BMI of 47. I agree with the other, I was concerned about the malabsorbtion issues with DS. We hear about the more drastic WL with DS, but unless you fall into the super obese category, I didn't feel the risks were worth it. Its really a personal decision and talk with your regular doctor and or surgeon and they can help you make the best choice for you.

I would be concerned about travelling far away from my doctor and not having anyone around who can help if you have complications.
