Tammy, it isn't totally a decision your surgeon makes. It often comes out of a discussion between surgeon and patient. I know the surgeons in the office I went through offer it as an option. They discuss all the different options with their patients, but they don't leave it totally up to patients choice. It is pretty much a joint decision between patient and physician. There are 2 surgeons out of 3 in my surgeon's office that do them and actually are training right now to be able to do them lap.
