We make ours disappear
My son isn't a candy freak and eats none except for holloween and candy-canes at christmas. But he does have a very bad memory. My husband and I have been "helping" him with his candy for years, while limiting him to 3 or 4 items a day. (Of course, a full size bar would count as 4!) This year, I'm just going to throw a few things out every few days, since even the smell of candy makes me gag now.
We also once put his candy bag up on a high shelf, and after four days, he totally forgot about it. I tossed the whole thing right before thanksgiving.
There are so many ways to deal with it, but I will say - the hospital idea is excellent!
