Christy, if your dr. told you to be on clear liquids two days before surgery, you better listen to him and do what he says. Remember, this is a VERY important phase and also remember that your stomach and intestines are being dissected (so to speak) and you don't want to have a lot of intestinal fluids that could possibly flow into your abdomen when your intestines are cut. I would think this is to ensure the most safety possible for your surgery. I'd think twice if I were you before breaking the clear liquid diet before surgery. If you are thinking about breaking it after surgery, don't worry..... You will probably only be on the clear liquid diet for the first week and you will not want to eat anything. First, you are just happy to get the liquids. Secondly, you will be so afraid of ripping something apart and hemorrhaging or leaking that you will not break it afterwards. Just be aware of the "head hunger" you will have. That's when you see someone eating or see a commercial and "THINK" you can eat that, but in all reality, you wouldn't know where to put it if you have it. lol So, just keep your health in mind. You can cause yourself some major complications from not following your food plan. Good luck with your surgery and keep your eye on the prize, as I try to do everyday, and you will do just fine!

Vbee, good luck girl! You will do great!
